• India Bans Exports on Rice

India just banned non-basmati white rice export on 07/19, Thursday.

By 2022, India was the second largest exporter of rice globally, providing 40% of global rice shipments, which is about 22.2 million tons.

The Indian government banned the export to stabilize the local rice prices, which have been increasing continuously.

Experts predict that the ban on rice exports would lead to a global rise in rice prices, just like the effect of the Ukrainian War on the worldwide economy.
